The war of words has intensified between former Toronto Raptors power forward Chris Bosh and general manager of Toronto Raptors, Bryan Colangelo. Colangelo had labelled Bosh as a ‘quitter’ and had questioned his decision to not play despite being cleared to do so by an MRI scan. In turn, Bosh has refuted all the allegations and said that he played the game as hard as he could, each time he stepped on to the court.

Bosh also argued that it was not a foregone conclusion to leave Toronto. He said that it was the hardest decision he had to make in his sporting career. Speaking on Rogers Sportsnet on Thursday, Bosh added, “On the back of my jersey it says ‘Bosh’. The Boshes are hard workers. We have a lot of pride in what we do, in our jobs and in life.”

The Raptors failed to qualify for the play-offs as they went from a playoff position to ninth in the Eastern Conference table at the season-end. Bosh then decided to join Miami as free agent for this season. Bosh should be able to garner around $130 million over a six-year period with Miami Heat, a far cry from the $97 million he will make in Toronto.

Bosh also defended himself from the line that he had used for Toronto – he had called it different. He clarified that he did not mean it as an insult, just that he thought that it was a different country and that it was an amazing city and an experience overall.

Bosh was a part of the Toronto side for the better part of seven seasons, having been selected for the NBA Draft in 2003 and getting a contract in July, 2003.

Earlier Colangelo had claimed that the Raptors had had a started having a bad season and needed Bosh to come out of his injury sooner than later. The general manage also cited the example of how the side tried to ‘put pieces around Chris’. However, according to Colangelo, it all went in vain an the team suffered from having not qualified for the Play-Offs.

Toronto Raptors have qualified for the Play-Offs on only five occasions overall, and only twice since 2003. Their best performance ever came in 2000-01 when they entered the Eastern Conference semi-final but lost to Philadelphia.
